  • 1
Heat oven to 350°. Place apple, orange and dates in blender or food processor. Cover and blend or process until well blended.
  • 2
Mix brown sugar, oil and egg in large bowl. Stir in remaining ingredients and fruit mixture. Drop dough by tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet.
  • 3
Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until light golden brown. Immediately remove from cookie sheet.

Expert Tips

  • Spread dough in ungreased rectangular pan, 13x9x2 inches. Bake 23 to 27 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. For bars, cut into 6 rows by 6 rows. 36 bars.
  • “I like to snack. I always keep apples, bananas or dried fruit at my desk. I buy the best produce available because it is a treat. That keeps me from eating other, not as healthy, foods.” Nanci D.
  • Because this recipe contains the apple and orange peel, it’s a great source of fiber and many other nutrients. Combining that benefit with the Omega-3 of the flaxseed makes this is an especially good choice for a sweet treat.
