Tequila Lime Chex™ Mix

Ingredients

cups Chex™ cereal (I used equal parts corn, rice, and wheat Chex)

cups pretzels

cup peanuts
1
cup tortilla strips* (or crushed tortilla chips)
1/4
cup butter, melted
3
tablespoons tequila
3
tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1
tablespoon lime juice
2
teaspoons seasoned salt
1
teaspoon chili powder
1
teaspoon garlic powder
zest of 1 lime

    In large microwavable bowl, combine Chex™, pretzels, peanuts, and tortilla strips; set aside.

    In small microwavable bowl, microwave butter uncovered on High about 40 seconds or until melted. Stir in tequila, Worcestershire, lime juice, seasoned salt, chili powder, and garlic powder. Pour over cereal mixture; stir until evenly coated. Microwave uncovered on High 5 to 6 minutes, thoroughly stirring every 2 minutes. Spread on paper towels to cool, and sprinkle with the fresh lime zest. Store in airtight container.

Expert Tips

*Tortilla strips can usually be found in grocery stores near the salad dressings.

To make this recipe in the microwave, combine all of the ingredients as directed above. Then instead of microwaving the Chex™ mix, spread it out in an even layer on a large parchment-covered baking sheet. Bake at 250°F for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Spread on paper towels to cool, and sprinkle with the fresh lime zest. Store in airtight container.
