I'm sure you're getting hungry; so let me tell you how to get some of this deliciousness in your life.
Start with a pan on medium heat. Once heated, add a tablespoon of butter, a 1/2 cup of fresh chopped apples, 1 tablespoon of apple pie spice, 1 teaspoon of sugar and a 1/2 cup of apple juice. Stir and let simmer for 5-10 minutes until the juice has reduced, all of the sugars have melted into a delicious syrup-like consistency, and your apples are tender.
Did you know it’s super easy to make your own apple pie spice? So simple, you’ll never buy the premade store mix again!
While your apples are cooking, start your French toast batter. In a large bowl combine 2 eggs, a 1/8th cup of heavy cream, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, a 1/2 teaspoon of sugar, 1 teaspoon of apple pie spice and whisk until ingredients are evenly distributed.
Next, get a pan on medium heat, with one tablespoon of butter. Once the pan has heated, dip two slices of bread into the French toast batter, then place in the pan and fry until golden brown on both sides.
To prepare the whipped cream, add a 1/2 teaspoon of sugar, and a 1/4 teaspoon of apple pie spice to a 1/2 cup of heavy cream, whipping until fluffy.
Top the French toast with the apple mixture and serve with a generous dollop of whipped cream.
Apple season is upon us, so let's all rejoice by eating copious amounts of apple pie and apple pie French toast!
