Chicken-Based Broth for Pho

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp canola oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 2 tbsp minced ginger
  • 1 tsp star anise
  • 6 cups chicken broth/stock
  • 1/8 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp sugar / honey

Steps

    Heat the canola oil in a large soup pot over medium heat.

    Add the garlic, ginger and star anise and cook, stirring occasionally, for 2-3 minutes.

    Add the broth/stock, soy sauce and sugar/honey.

    Stir well, cover and reduce heat to low.

    Cook for 30 minutes, undisturbed.
