Grilled Asparagus

Use this easy idea to grill up asparagus! Perfect when topped with Parmesan shavings and our Roasted Tomato and Basil Sauce on the Grill.

Ingredients

1
bunch asparagus (look for the ones with thicker stems)
2
tablespoons olive oil
Sea salt to taste

Directions

  • 1 Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
  • 2 Trim any tough ends. Pierce the bottom 1 inch of an asparagus spear with a wooden skewer. Thread six asparagus spears onto the skewer, then thread another skewer through those spears about 2 inch above the lower one. Repeat, using 2 skewers for every 5 or 6 spears of asparagus.
  • 3 Drizzle asparagus skewers generously with olive oil. Salt and pepper. Toss on hot grill and cook just until softened and kissed with fire.
  • 4 Remove from heat and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese shavings before serving.

Grilled Asparagus

As prepared by Cheeky Kitchen,

Ready for asparagus to get all up in your grill? Then check out this clever way of cooking it on your barbie!

Grilled veggies are nice and all, but sometimes they fall through the grate, and other times they are just downright a pain to prep. But not with this easy idea for barbecuing asparagus. Check it out, friends of cleverness….

You'll need asparagus and skewers. Like, that's it. Except for olive oil and salt. But otherwise, that's really it.

Asparagus ready for grilling

Look for those fat pieces of asparagus, not the super skinny ones, then pierce the bottom 1" of an asparagus with a skewer. Keep going with the piercing, until you have 5 or 6 in a row.

Skewer lower portion of asparagus spears

Now thread a second skewer about 2" above that first one.

Skewer a couple inches above the first skewer line

Repeat the process until you've got asparagus skewers that look like this. All lined up and ready to get their suntan on in your grill. Drizzle with olive oil and a nice smattering of sea salt. Then….

Skewered asparagus ready for the grill

Toss those suckers on the grill. E.A.S.Y, right?!!!

Place skewered asparagus on the grill

Cook over a hot grill until the asparagus is nicely cooked. To ensure no charring, make sure you keep an eye on it as it cooks, because those stringy little pieces cook fairly quickly over the high heat of the grill!
