    Ingredients

    • 1 box Betty Crocker chocolate cake mix (any kind of chocolate)
    • egg(s), water and oil added to the cake mix, per package instructions
    • 1  extra egg
    • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, room temperature
    • 3/4 cup peanut butter
    • 1 cup powdered sugar
    • 2 cups regular or mini semisweet chocolate chips

    Directions

    1. 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line 48 baking cups with paper cupcake wrappers, or spray with cooking spray.
    2. 2Prepare chocolate cake batter according to package instructions. Set aside.
    3. 3In a separate bowl, use an electric mixer to cream together cream cheese and peanut butter on medium speed until smooth. Add egg, and mix until blended. Reduce speed to low, and add the powdered sugar. Increase speed to medium and mix until smooth. Set aside.
    4. 4To assemble the cupcakes, place 1 level teaspoon of the chocolate batter in the bottom of each baking cup. Layer with 1 teaspoon of the peanut butter mixture. Repeat with a layer of chocolate batter, and then another layer of the peanut butter mixture. Sprinkle the top with a few chocolate chips.
    5. 5Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the middle of a cupcake comes out clean. Remove and let cool before serving.

@Addictedtobaking So glad you enjoyed them! And yes, they totally in either sized pan. Just adjust the cooking time for the bigger cupcakes. ;)

I made these the other day, started out using mini cupcake pan, but only have one. So I used regular size pans. Worked even better! My husband loved them!!! He has requested more, a lot more!

@Old Lady Cook I haven't tried the 9x13 option, but imagine it would probably bake up well. If you try it, let us know how it goes!

Gee I hope that messy post is NOT indicative (spelling) of a messy cake. What's with all the & and other crap/stuff mixed in there?

What would happen if you put the cake batter in a 9 x 13 cake pan dropped the cream-cheese <-> peanut butter mix here & there into the batter and swirled it a bit & baked it. I don't have time to drop stuff by teaspoons. At my age quick is a priority and I can clean up while it's baking. LOL
