Smoothies That Don’t Suck!

As prepared by Jackie Fo

Here’s a secret - smoothies don’t have to be a snooze-fest!

Chocolate smoothies? Yup, that’s a possibility. How about a boozy smoothie? Also doable! With fruit, yogurt and a little imagination you can rock the smoothie like it’s never been rocked before!

smoothie ingredients

Basic ingredients:

Fruit (Obv.)

+

Yogurt (I prefer Yoplait Greek – thick and creamy = delicious smoothie consistency)

+

Liquid (water, milk, juice, or alcohol if you’re feeling frisky!)

Note: You can add ice or use frozen fruit to give your smoothie that icy cold texture.

Party Smoothies

Smoothie Shots! If you’re hosting a brunch gathering, why not substitute alcohol for your liquid and serve smoothie shots! Served in miniature glasses with a cute straw, smoothie shots make for a cute party presentation! Keeping with the whole brunch theme, why not serve Mimosa Smoothie shots? I found this Blended Vanilla Mimosa Smoothie recipe and modified it a bit to make it raspberry-licious! This decadent breakfast beverage uses ice cream instead of yogurt. Or check out my Raspberry Mimosa Smoothie below!

Make Your Own Smoothie Bar

If you trust your friends to operate a blender (with the lid firmly ON!), create a make your own smoothie bar! Set out several varieties of fruit, yogurt, and alcohol (it is a party, after all) and tell your friends to mix and blend until their hearts content! This would be a fun activity for a “Get Skinny Party” to help hack away at those unwanted holiday lbs.!

Uber Healthy Smoothies

If your breakfast routine needs an update from the usual oatmeal or piece of toast, take a look at Tablespoon’s ginormous collection of Smoothie recipes. Here are a few that caught my eye:

This Peach-Berry Smoothie sounds delicious and it’s ready in 5 minutes!

Or try this Easy Strawberry-Banana Smoothie that’s under 200 calories. YUM!

Uber-Unhealthy Smoothies

Have you already given up on your New Years resolution to lose weight? If so, try these amazing chocolate-y smoothies that are definitely NOT on anyone’s diet plan!

Mmm…how yummy does this Betty Crocker Chocolate Banana-Peanut Butter Smoothie sound? It’s like a milkshake! I don’t know if it’s breakfast or dessert, but I know I want it!

Or this dessert inspired smoothie, the Chocolate-Caramel Pecan Smoothie. It sounds like liquid cake!

I think I’ve proven that smoothies are perfect for a quick breakfast on the go, or a fun party addition that is easy-peasy. Don’t be scared by smoothie prep, it really takes no time at all!
