July 13 is Embrace Your Geekness Day!

It’s very hip to be nerdy right now, very cool to be geek-chic.

Now, I don’t want to sound like I’m bragging, but I was totally nerdy way back before it was even cool.

Giant circular glasses the size of small dinner plates? Had ‘em and not even ironically – I needed them to see! But I digress. What’s important, friends, is that now is a great time to be a geek. It can be science, it can be sewing, it can be comics, it can be delicious noms – there’s no limit to what you can geek out about.

In celebration of embracing your geekiness, and being an awesome human, we have these fantastic recipes to try out. A party would be the optimal occasion to deploy them, but no pressure!

1. Jabba the Hutt Cake

You don’t have to be a green dancing girl to appreciate the significance of this amazeballs cake.

2. Flaming Marshmallow Jelly Shots

Did you know that atomic emission spectra can affect the frequencies of visible light radiation emitted, meaning that flames will appear a different color dependent upon the chemical additives? That why you need to make these shots – for SCIENCE!

3. Triple Berry Pi Day Pie

I know you’re irrationally excited about this p. AHAHAHA! Get it? Since p is an irrational number? Don’t look at me like that; math jokes are totally funny. Since you can’t square this circle, you may as well nom it!

4. Flaming S’mores Cocktail

Treat yourself to this combustible consumable! But wait until those flames die down before indulging.

5. Rainbow Sandwich Loaf

Pillsbury crusty French bread dough combined with gel food coloring will give you such eye-poppin’ colors that LeVar Burton would be impressed.

6. Creepy Worm Shots

Eeeeeeew! In actual life, these little invertebrates are super-important for the environment; they totes help aerate the soil. Create these creepy-crawlies by cleverly employing the use of straws!

7. Despicable Me Minions

Just like those silly little minions from the movie, but edible. And versatile as well, they can be enjoyed on a stick or as a brownie topper!

8. Glow-in-the-Dark Apple Cider

Indulge your inner scientist by making this palate-pleasing cocktail. You can sip merrily while explaining that your drink is glowing because quinine has a fluorescent quantum yield.

9. Butterbeer Jelly Shots

You’re a wizard! Just kidding. But you might end up thinking you are after a few of these delicious jelly shots.
