Here’s a story you might be familiar with: A recipe calls for three cups of broth. You go to the store, buy the broth, make the delicious recipe, and are left with an annoyingly small amount. Maybe it’s one cup or even just a few tablespoons.
For me, this would either sit in my fridge until it went bad or I tossed it.
Until I remembered this quick storage hack—it’s so perfect for storing leftover broth! All you need is an ice cube tray.
You can use any kind of broth, but I usually try to freeze beef or chicken broth because that’s most common in recipes.
I don’t recommend mixing broth in the same ice cube tray. It wouldn’t be a huge deal if you combined them, but some recipes specify beef or chicken broth and it’s easier to just keep them separate.
Once the broth cubes are frozen solid, pop them out of the ice cube tray and store them in a freezer-safe bag for months!
The next time you see a recipe that calls for a small amount of broth, just pull out these cubes, thaw as many as you need, and use them in the recipe. (Most ice cube trays are about 2 tablespoons per ice cube.)
Don’t fret about that leftover broth during the holidays. Freeze it and cut down on your grocery bill in the future!
