How to Roast Beets

Heres how to break your fear of beets with a few easy steps.

I’m not going to lie; beets are scary looking.


They’re not particularly pretty or friendly or welcoming. But there is magic inside, I promise you that! When you roast these weird veggies, they turn out all sweet and caramelized and have a beautiful deep red color. They just need a little TLC! Here’s how to break your fear of beets with a few easy steps.

 



Step 1: Wash the beets, like you’d scrub a potato before baking.

 





Step 2: Trim ends and stems of beets using a knife.

 



Step 3: Preheat oven to 375 F. Drizzle beets (skin still on) with olive oil.

 



Step 4: Place on a baking sheet lined in foil and cover in foil, sealing the edges together.

 



Step 5: Roast for one hour to an hour and a half, or until they are pretty tender and you can poke through the skin with a fork.

 



Step 6: Let cool and slip skins off. They should come off quite easily. Cube or slice to use for recipes, or enjoy the sweet flavor on its own.
