Ingredients

cup butter, softened*

cup sugar
2 1/4
cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
1/2
teaspoon salt
1
teaspoon almond extract or vanilla
1
egg
Few drops red or green food color, if desired
Betty Crocker™ decorating decors and colored sugars, if desired

    Heat oven to 400°F. In large bowl, beat butter and sugar with electric mixer on medium speed, or mix with spoon, until well blended. Stir in flour, salt, almond extract, egg and food color until dough forms.

    Fit desired template in cookie press; fill cookie press with dough. Force dough through template onto ungreased cookies sheets. Sprinkle with decors or sugars.

    Bake 6 to 9 minutes or until set but not brown. Immediately remove from cookie sheets to cooling racks.

  • *We recommend not using margarine or vegetable oil spreads for this recipe.
  • Stir 2 oz unsweetened baking chocolate, melted and cooled, into butter-sugar mixture.
