Thanksgiving is just around the corner and I’m already brainstorming about what I’m going to serve on the big day. Thanksgiving is all about tradition and I definitely have a list of family dishes that we make every year, but I also like to throw in a new dish every once in a while to jazz it up a little bit and add some exciting flavors.
Thanksgiving is a day when all of the dishes battle for oven time. When we bought our house, the previous owners had the kitchen redone. I loved what they did, and my top-of-the-line oven works great -- but it is TINY! I’m not even sure if I can fit a turkey in it. Yikes! Since I don’t have a double oven, I have to plan the timing of what goes into my small oven perfectly.
That’s why I love these green beans with almonds and bacon
. They can be cooked on the stove and take no time at all. You can even throw in a handful of dried cranberries to make it more festive. We all know that the turkey is the star of the show, but this side dish might give it some competition. The bacon and almonds add a comfort factor to these green beans that say family. And since we are thousands of miles away from family, I do all I can to make our holidays warm and cozy with food.Time Saving Tip:
Buying precooked bacon can time as well as eliminate the mess of cooking the bacon!Christy joined the Tablespoon team to share her recipes and inspire family food fun. Watch her Tablespoon member profile for great new recipes!
