Caramel Apple Dump Cake with Spiced Whipped Cream

I really don't think that there's an easier cake than this one. If you can mix and pour, you can make it. A cross between cake and cobbler, this dessert screams fall!

    Ingredients

    • 2 cans apple pie filling
    • 1/4 cup caramel sauce
    • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
    • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
    • 1 box Betty Crocker yellow cake mix
    • 1 cup melted butter
    • 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
    • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
    • 4 Tablespoons powdered sugar
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla
    • 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon

    Directions

    1. 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9x13 pan with cooking spray.
    2. 2Add apple pie filling, caramel sauce, lemon juice, and cinnamon to the pan. Mix together.
    3. 3Sprinkle with cake mix. Cover with melted butter.
    4. 4Bake for 35 to 40 minutes. Cool on a baking rack.
    5. 5To make the spiced whipped cream, chill a large mixing bowl. Add heavy cream and whisk until it holds soft peaks. Then whisk in powdered sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon.
    6. 6Serve the dump cake with spiced whipped cream, a drizzle of extra caramel sauce and a few pecans.

    WOW, this is a make again recipe. Found out that I had to leave it in the oven for longer than the recipe recommended; Probably closer to 50 to 60 minutes. I did not get the mushy problem. It set up really well. I think this was better than other apple recipes! Thanks!

    Hi @angelaarmbrecht! For this recipe, you can prepare the apple pie filling in advance. We don’t recommend baking it or preparing the whipped cream until right before you serve; it may turn out too mushy.
