Easy little hand pies that are as sweet as sweet can be.
These gorgeous Cannoli Calzones are based on an amazing recipe that inspired us. Our little calzones fuse together two Italian classics in one little dessert.
Filled with sweetened ricotta and cream cheese, topped with a buttery chocolate ganache, and sprinkled with mini chocolate chips, these delicious dessert calzones taste like a warm cannoli flew fresh out of the oven and set up shop right in your tastebuds.
They’re deliciously simple and perfect for days when you’re craving a comfort food treat, but don’t wanna drive to the bakery.
Here’s how to make them:
Grab a few quick basics. Pillsbury™ pizza crust, cream cheese, ricotta, powdered sugar, chocolate chips and butta.
Unroll the pizza crust and use a little bowl to cut it into six 4 to 5-inch rounds.
Whip up the filling by mixing the cream cheese, ricotta, and powdered sugar. You’ll also add a little vanilla and cinnamon—just for flavor's sake.
Your filling will be much fluffier than mine—that’s a good thing! After trying this recipe with egg, I discovered that the best filling is straight up cream and cream and cream. So just follow the recipe and you're golden.
Now fold each round over the filling, and press a fork around the edges to seal.
Transfer your calzones to a baking dish and preheat the oven.
And drizzle with a bit o’ melted butter.
Once your cannoli come hot out of the oven, let them cool slightly while you prep the chocolate icing.
Then drizzle, drizzle, fo' shizzle choc fizzle. Sprinkle with mini chocolate chips and your Cannoli Calzones are ready to serve!
