I've made this twice now using a standard 13 grain honey nut wheat bread. I use 6 eggs instead of 4 and a little extra milk and soak the bread before I place it in the pan. I haven't done it overnight. It's absolutely wonderful. Instead of nuts, this time I used sliced apples in the middle. Perfect!!!!!

You can use any type of bread you like, @Anonymous, but the most common French toast breads are brioche and challah.

Letting it sit overnight gets the bread moist and fully soaked. If you try it without letting it sit, let us know how it goes

French bread, texas toast, Egg bread, Challah bread and also King Hawaiian all also work well. I make a recipe similar called blue berry stuffed French toast with homemade blueberry syrup!!!! It is to die for!!!

French toast is made with a loaf of unsliced French bread. Cut 1in. Thick slices on the angle and each slice is about 6-8 inches. Yum.

to all asking you can use texas toast, or the recipe probably meant french bread... it is really good if you let the french bread sit out for a few hours and get a little stale. Do not worry, after soaking in the egg mixture all night it will be very tender.
