How to Make Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Winter, summer, any time of year, slow cooker pulled pork is easy, delicious and makes great sammies. 

Slow cookers are pretty amazing devices to use all year round, but it seems like winter is when they really shine. The weather gets cold; you're stuck inside, maybe feeling a little lazy and just looking for comfort wherever you can find it. In comes the slow cooker all like, "Oh hey, put three ingredients in me and I will work hard all day making you a delicious meal, you just keep watching Netflix", and I’m all like "saaawweeeet!”

Okay, so it's not always just three ingredients, but in this case it is, and of course it's not always strictly for winter use. This 3-Ingredient Slow Cooker Pulled Pork would make for an amazing summer get-together meal!  It's ridiculously easy, tasty, and can make a large amount of pulled pork with minimal labor (which is really what it's all about).

This recipe uses leaner pork tenderloin, making for a healthier meal than the traditional pulled pork, which would use a fattier piece of meat like the shoulder (which adds more flavor and moisture). Use whatever you prefer!

Let's get this started. Pull out your slow cooker, toss your pork in, add a can of soda (root beer is a popular choice), put the lid on and turn the slow cooker to low, cooking for about 4-6 hours. That's it! Kick back and relax while the slow cooker does its magic.

Once the pork reaches 160°F, take it out of the slow cooker and place it in a dish. To "pull" the pork, take two forks and stick them into the same spot and pull them away from each other, shredding the pork. Do this until you have shredded all of it, then add your favorite barbecue sauce to taste, as well as salt & pepper if you wish.

You can serve the pork with rice, put it on a pizza, make tacos out of it, or go the ever popular route and make pulled pork sandwiches! Use fresh buns, and top with coleslaw. If you want to keep the pork warm, empty the leftover soda from the slow cooker, put the pork back in and keep the temperature on the low setting.
