Ingredients

  • 1 can (13.8 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Classic Crust Pizza Crust
  • 4 ounces (4 tablespoons) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasonings
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 large green bell pepper

Steps

  • 1
Preheat oven according to package directions and press the pizza crust into a large cookie sheet (12x18 inches) that has been sprayed with cooking spray. Prebake the pizza crust for about 5 minutes then remove pizza from oven.
  • 2
While pizza is prebaking, in a small pot add pizza sauce and cream cheese and cook over medium heat. Once cream cheese is melted and incorporated with pizza sauce, add the garlic and Italian seasonings.
  • 3
Slice green bell pepper horizontally to make 6 thin shamrock shapes.
  • 4
Spread pizza sauce mixture evenly over pie crust and top with mozzarella cheese. Finish off the pizza by placing the 6 slices of green bell pepper on top of the mozzarella, evenly spaced.
  • 5
Bake for 9-11 minutes or until cheese is melted and crust is a golden brown. Slice into 6 squares with each square containing a shamrock.

More About This Recipe

  • Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

St. Patrick’s Day has me thinking green. Usually I start off the morning greeting my kids with a “top of the morning to you” in my best Irish accent. Then I serve them a breakfast of green eggs and ham and green milk to drink. Even though they probably think I’m a little crazy, they are pretty amazed by all of the green but refuse to eat it at the same time.

Since I don’t want them starving the entire day, I thought I'd make something I know they will eat -- pizza -- with a little Irish flair. These Shamrock Pizza Squares are a twist on traditional pizza with a creamy sauce and topped with green bell pepper shamrocks.

This pizza has all of the colors of the flag of Ireland – orange, white, and green. The cream cheese added to the pizza sauce makes it a shade of orange, add some white mozzarella, and top it with vibrant green bell peppers and you are all set.

These Shamrock Pizza Squares are a fast and easy meal with the help of a Pillsbury pizza crust. That gives me more time to make sure my naughty little leprechauns don’t get into any mischief.

Bring some luck o’ the Irish to your home with these Shamrock Pizza Squares!
