More About This Recipe

  • Don't even think about having a St. Patty's Day party without these Shamrock Shake Jelly Shots.

On the day I tinkered with this recipe, my oldest son arrived home from school at 3:15, and I was as happy as an Irishman on St. Patty's Day. Which is to say … happy.

These. Shamrock. Shake. Jelly. Shots. Are. Way. Funner. Than. The. Originals.

I’d say more, but it took a full three hours of carefully focusing on my words to write that one line.

Mint liqueur will do that to you.

Jelly shots are cuh-razy easy! Just grab a few basics. A very few. Like three. Plus a little food coloring.

Start by filling a bowl with hot water and sprinkling unflavored gelatin on top. 30 seconds or so later, give it a whisk to make sure it’s dissolving all over the place.

Then whisk mint liqueur into the bowl..

Then a bit of sweetened condensed milk and some food coloring to get them the exact shade you want them.

Refrigerate for a couple hours or so 'til they're firm, and you’ve got yourself a batch of party-ready Shamrock Shake Jelly Shots. Top ‘em off with a straw and whipped cream so they look like their namesake, and you’ll be ready to celebrate just about everything … even at 3:15 in the afternoon.
