If autumn is the best season of all time (which we think it is), then this is its most sippable companion. From the classic apple tartness meshed with comforting maple sweetness to a surprising bite at the end that’ll make you question its zero-proof claim, this mocktail is one you’ll be making all season long.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz apple cider, chilled (1/4 cup)
  • 1 teaspoon real maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • Small ice cubes
  • 4 oz ginger beer, chilled (1/2 cup)

Steps

  • 1
In a highball glass or a copper Moscow mule cup, mix apple cider, maple syrup and vinegar.
  • 2
Stir to combine. Fill to the rim with ice. Top with ginger beer.

Expert Tips

  • tip 1
A rose garnish made from an apple peel makes this drink feel extra fancy. To make an apple peel rose, use a vegetable peeler and peel an apple from the top to the bottom, keeping the peel in one continuous piece. Roll the peel up, and secure with a toothpick. Place on top of the cocktail in the glass. If that feels too swanky, an apple wedge on the rim of the glass works just as well.
  • tip 2
Ginger beers differ in intensity from brand to brand, so make sure you taste your ginger beer before adding it to this drink.
