  • 1
Preheat oven to 350° F. Lightly grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan. In large bowl combine flour, baking powder, salt and 1 cup sugar. Add egg, milk, and oil to flour mixture.
  • 2
Stir until just moistened. Pour half of the batter into pan.
  • 3
Sprinkle with cinnamon and 1/3 cup sugar (you can mix together cinnamon and sugar before hand, I didn't though I just sprinkled away).
  • 4
Cover with remaining batter. Top with more cinnamon/sugar if desired.
  • 5
Bake in preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into center of the loaf comes out clean.
  • 6
Let cool in pan for 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • 7
You can choose to either let it sit overnight, or you can eat it while it's still warm.

More About This Recipe

  • Did we have you at cinnamon, sugar or quick with this recipe? Quick bread is one of our favorite ways to make homemade bread; it requires less time and less effort, thanks to baking powder (and sometimes, baking soda). Making bread at home usually requires a leavener like yeast and you have to allow the yeast to rise for a significant amount of time. This quick bread recipe is ready in an hour and you probably already have all of the ingredients on hand! You may not know this, but corn bread, soda bread, banana bread, zucchini bread, scones, muffins and biscuits also fall into the “quick breads” category. If that list made you hungry, you’re in luck! Here’s everything you need to know about mastering the art of the quick bread.
