Grilled Barbecued Ribs

Ingredients

  • 4 1/2 lb pork baby back ribs
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 3 tablespoons liquid smoke
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 can (12 oz) cola carbonated beverage
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups barbecue sauce

Instructions

    Heat oven to 325°F. Remove inner skin from ribs. In small bowl, mix brown sugar, salt, pepper, liquid smoke and garlic. Rub ribs with brown sugar mixture. Layer ribs on rack in roasting pan. Pour carbonated beverage in pan (do not pour on top of ribs). Top ribs with onions. Cover with foil.

    Bake about 2 hours 30 minutes or until meat is tender. Let stand 30 minutes.

    Meanwhile, heat gas or charcoal grill. Cut ribs into 8 serving pieces. Place ribs on grill over medium heat. Cover grill; cook 8 to 10 minutes, turning once, until ribs are tender and no longer pink next to bones. Brush ribs with barbecue sauce; cook about 5 minutes longer or until sauce is bubbly.
