This is the most rich and delicious hot chocolate you’ll have this year. Make it for the kids, but feel free to add in the adult options!

Ingredients

  • 1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 6 cups 2% milk (or whole milk)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 4 oz. semi-sweet chocolate
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • Whipped cream, for garnish
  • Graham crackers, for garnish
  • Chopped chocolate, for garnish
  • Mini marshmallows, for garnish

Adult Version:

  • 6-8 oz. hot chocolate
  • 1 oz. chocolate vodka
  • 1/2 oz. peppermint schnapps

Steps

  • 1
In a slow-cooker, combine sweetened condensed milk, 2% milk, sugar, cocoa powder, semi-sweet chocolate and vanilla extract. Heat on High and whisk occasionally until mixture is smooth. Once mixture is smooth and steaming, turn heat down to warm.
  • 2
Alternatively, you can cook hot chocolate mixture in a pot over medium heat until steaming and then transfer to a slow-cooker to keep it warm.
  • 3
Garnish each cup of hot chocolate with a big dollop of whipped cream and top with graham crackers, marshmallows, and chopped chocolate.
  • 4
If you’re making an adult version, stir in 1 ounce of chocolate vodka and 1/2 ounce of peppermint schnapps before topping and garnishing.
