Soup Stock (Vegetable, Poultry, or Beef)

You can make stock from just about anything. Here are a few ways to make the perfect base for soup.

Ingredients

  • 1 carrot
  • 2 celery stalks
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 handful of mushrooms
  • 1 onion
  • 1 potato
  • 8 cups water
  • 1 chicken/turkey carcass, or beef bones (optional)
  • spices to taste

Steps

  • 1
    Place all ingredients in a soup pot.
  • 2
    Simmer ingredients for at least an hour.
  • 3
    Strain the liquid into a lidded container and store in the fridge or freezer until you are ready to whip up some soup.
