More About This Recipe

  • In the summer, everyone I know seems to love drinking John Dalys.

It’s basically the cocktail named after another pro golfer, the Arnold Palmer, but with booze: Iced tea, lemonade, and usually a sweet tea flavored alcohol (or plain vodka).

Now that the weather is cooling down a bit, these sweet tea drinks don’t seem appropriate to me. I wanted a tea drink that was a little more complex and seasonal. I came up with this Apple-Green Tea Cocktail to satisfy the craving. It turned out to be the perfect drink for a crisp Autumn afternoon. It also doubles as a great Halloween drink because of the color.

The first step is to make a really strong green tea. This is 20 teabags in 4 cups of water.

Then fill a pitcher with ice and pour in your tea.

Green! When I get green tea at a coffee shop, I always wonder why it isn't green. When I make it, it always comes out green!

Mix the tea with apple cider and vodka.

Black sugar on the rim is a nice touch and also adds a much-needed sweetness to the drink.

Sorry to break the 4th wall on you guys, but here is a little behind the scenes look at the photoshoot.
