More About This Recipe

  • Ready for asparagus to get all up in your grill? Then check out this clever way of cooking it on your barbie!

Grilled veggies are nice and all, but sometimes they fall through the grate, and other times they are just downright a pain to prep. But not with this easy idea for barbecuing asparagus. Check it out, friends of cleverness….

You'll need asparagus and skewers. Like, that's it. Except for olive oil and salt. But otherwise, that's really it.

Look for those fat pieces of asparagus, not the super skinny ones, then pierce the bottom 1" of an asparagus with a skewer. Keep going with the piercing, until you have 5 or 6 in a row.

Now thread a second skewer about 2" above that first one.

Repeat the process until you've got asparagus skewers that look like this. All lined up and ready to get their suntan on in your grill. Drizzle with olive oil and a nice smattering of sea salt. Then….

Toss those suckers on the grill. E.A.S.Y, right?!!!

Cook over a hot grill until the asparagus is nicely cooked. To ensure no charring, make sure you keep an eye on it as it cooks, because those stringy little pieces cook fairly quickly over the high heat of the grill!

Serve plain or top with our Grill-Roasted Tomato Basil Sauce with a bit of shaved Parmesan sprinkled up top!

Then, by all means, enjoy! Because holy asparagus. You are a rockstar with that grill!
