Dessert doesn't get easier than dump cake—well, unless it's a slow-cooker dump cake. It's truly the easiest way to get this cherry-filled dessert on the table. We'd also recommend topping it with your favorite ice cream to take it over the edge. Make that, strongly recommend.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans (21 oz each) cherry pie filling with more fruit
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ White Cake Mix
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup from 1 tub (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Cream Cheese Frosting
  • 3 tablespoons toasted sliced almonds

Steps

  • 1
Spray 5-quart slow cooker with cooking spray.
  • 2
Add cherry pie filling to slow cooker. Sprinkle cake mix over filling. Drizzle with melted butter, making sure to cover top with butter as much as you can.
  • 3
Cover top with large kitchen towel. Place slow-cooker cover on top of towel. (This will prevent condensation from dripping onto cake during cooking.)
  • 4
Cook on High heat setting 45 minutes. Carefully remove slow cooker’s ceramic insert, leaving cover on, and rotate insert 180 degrees. Continue to cook on High heat setting 60 to 90 minutes or until golden brown and center of cake is baked through in center. Remove slow cooker insert from heat, and uncover. Let stand 20 minutes.

In microwavable bowl, heat frosting uncovered on High 10 to 15 seconds or until easy to drizzle. Drizzle frosting over cake; sprinkle almonds over top.

Expert Tips

  • tip 1
Make sure to spread out the cake mix so there are not large mounds on top of the cake.
  • tip 2
Top with a scoop of ice cream or sweetened whipped cream for a delicious dessert!
  • tip 3
Rotating the slow cooker insert halfway through the cooking process helps to avoid burning on the side that’s closest to the heating element.
  • tip 4
If possible, look for canned cherry pie filling that is labeled "more fruit."
